9/11 Memorial Parade
A thank you from Harriet Hombach

All day the ominous clouds threatened to pour, drenching the 9/11 Memorial Parade at York Fair on Thursday, Sept. 11. Faithfully, the KPETS teams were the first to arrive prior to 5:00pm at the staging area. As we waited for the parade to start, a few drops were felt. Undaunted, we dressed our four-legged kids in their patriotic scarfs and passed American flags (made in USA) for the handlers to proudly wave. As we lined up, the sun broke through the dark clouds. I realized KPETS was the only group walking that was not with a police, ambulance or fire fighting organization. Once we began our travel through the York Fair, lots of people lined the route to applaud, even more loudly for our proud puppy group. We ended our march on the track in front of the grandstand. As we stood close by with our patient pooches being petted by policemen, fire fighters and EMTS, each of the numerous first responder vehicles  lined up nose in to the grandstand. On cue, they all turned on their emergency lights and sirens. What a wailing those sirens did!!!! Yet not one of these very special and very well-behaved dogs reacted to the noisy distraction!!! I looked around to see them laying or sitting calmly, with a few turning their heads in curiosity. I was so proud of each and every one of these remarkable animals. What a fantastic time with WONDERFUL KPETS HANDLERS and their FABULOUS FURRY KIDS!!!!
